Matt, I was thinking about you today .. Its been so long and still feels like if it were yesterday when you would write funny things in the palm of your hand and showed it to me and tried to make english class a little more exciting...I dont know what to say, I feel my arms a little chilled but I know do know that you are in a much better place. It must be nice to be next to God and His kingdom in heaven..miss you...And to Matt's family I would like to share this : ... that God has not promised skies always blue, flower-strewn pathways all our lives through; God has not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
But God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way, grace for the trials, help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying love. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hello! My name is Maureen, I am one of Gabby's friends. That is actually the way I met Matt. Although I wasn't close with him, I know the impact he had on those that were close to him. He would regularly make people laugh and smile. We never got to be close friends or anything, but he had a big heart, and I know it was because of you all, his family. So thank you, because even though his time on earth was short lived his impact was great. Happy holidays!

it is amazing how the time flies. it seems like forever since i have seen or heard your voice. that is the one thing that i miss most about you.... is your voice! i see pictures of you everyday and remember the good times with you, but i can't remember your voice! you are missed by so many people, but i know you are in a better place and you are watching over all of us. How I wish we were still at Seafield Court right now, talking and just hanging with each other. But, all I do now is reminisce of the good ole' days we had with one another as young kids and I truly cherish those memories, because that's all I have. Even though I was older than you, I looked up to you for the person you were. The way you took care of jason and amy is exactly how I take of my little brother now. Through the way you lived your life is the way I live mine now and I am so proud of the person I looked up too, because I thrive to be an absolute Gentle Man, like you were while growing up. I still look up to you through the heavens, because I know you are watching over and I just want to say I miss you and there's not a day that goes by that I don't about you and your family. My love and prayers are with your wonderful family, Mr. and Mrs. Mendez, Amy and your twin, Jason. We miss you dearly!!

I want to thank you the two of you for having three great children who I call my brothers and sister. Friends come and go, but family like ya'll are too me, is for eternity and my heart is filled with love for you all. Thank you for accepting me and my family in your lives. My words are not enough to fill the emptiness you have in your hearts from losing Matthew and every day is harder than the next, but please continue to be the strong parents you are for the two beautiful children you have in Jason and Amy. Nothing is harder in the world than losing a child and it only gets more difficult by reminiscing of the times you had with him, but please hug Jason and Amy each day and let them know they are truly loved by you two. I idolize the two of you for how strong ya'll have been over the 4 years of losing Matthew. Keep faith and Jesus will comfort you in your time of need.

Understand the two of you are reflecting shadows of your older brother and I know he is truly proud of the two of you for being strong for your parents in his passing. He is and will always be watching over the two of you through all the happy and difficult times in your life. Celebrate his life and the times you had with your him by reminiscing of the good and bad memories you had with him. Each moment was a great one, and even though you were mad at him, you still loved him with all of your heart and wouldn't trade him for nothing in this world. As each day comes and go, Matthew is watching you, guarding you and loving you more and more.

I know the grief we all bear seems at times too much to bear. I wanted to share a story with you. We worry about our loved one being forgotten. My daughter got this idea that she wanted to contact my son Billy's friends after 38 years and tell them about the site. She talked to some Army friends and school classmates as well. All the years did not take their memories away. They remember my Billy. I was amazed that his memory was indeed living on. They love him still. I thought this was so heartwarming to know that Billy is remembered. It comforted her knowing that her son will always be remembered too. My son and my grandson will be forever young and forever remembered in the lives of others and that is the best medicine I could ever receive for my broken heart. I still grieve for Billy and for Dusty that is only only because I loved them and miss them. Sometimes love hurts and this is one of those times. Memories of Billy are still so fresh it is just like yesterday that I last saw my baby boy. God has blessed me with so many precious memories that are mine and nobody can take them. So I look at the pain that I endure as part of the loving process because without the pain I would have never loved. I want to thank each one of you who light candles for Billy. It is really hard for me to light because all this computer stuff is Greek to me, but each day I say prayers for all of you. God has never failed me yet and God has brought you to me and I thank Him daily.
Remember you loved one will be never be forgotten, how blessed.
